The Full Moon Rises at Christmas

Santa Claus will have a lot more light than was planned for Christmas, because a full moon will rise in the sky. She will reach her peak around 6:11 am ET on December 25th.

The last time such a phenomenon was observed in the distant 1977. Now (after Christmas), people can enjoy it only in 2034.

The December full moon is also called the "full cold December moon." According to the almanu of the Old Farmer, at this time in the past, the Indians prophesied very long nights, and the day of the winter solstice starts at about the same time, thereby bringing with them the longest night of the year.

In the northern hemisphere, the winter solstice will begin on December 22 at 11:48 EST.
