GRACE-FO provides a unique view of the Earth’s climate.

On May 22, 2018, NASA and the German Research Center for Geophysical Studies of Gravity and Climate launched the GRACE-FO mission aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. For the launch, they chose the 4E platform on Air Force Vandenberg (California).

The mission will record changes in how mass is redistributed within and between the earth's atmosphere, oceans, land and ice covers, as well as within the planet itself.

GRACE-FO shares orbit with five communications satellites Iridium NEXT.
