Scientists predict the emergence of probes with a new artificial intelligence

Researchers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Steve Chien and Kiri Wagstaff believe that future spacecraft will be equipped with sufficiently powerful artificial intelligence to perform most of the tasks without prompting a person.

Mankind has seriously advanced in space exploration. We managed to place rovers on the Martian surface, to fix the probes on Venus, Saturn and other parts of the system. However, our capabilities still do not allow interstellar travel.

It is very difficult to create a ship that could go into distant space. In the end, the moment will come when we simply lose the signal and cannot control it. So, the deeper we go, the smarter must be the technology. Moreover, they must be developed to the extent that they can cope with tasks without our intervention. Also, researchers insist that the devices have the skill of learning and can adapt to the situation. Intellect must be able to distinguish between typical situations and unforeseen and dangerous situations, such as cosmic storms. And also learn to see the difference between ice and snow or to fix the movement of water. The most important thing is the ability to choose the most useful locations for scientific research.

Scientists say such probes would help to go far beyond Alpha Centauri and consistently transfer data to next generations.
