The launch of the wind tracking satellite is postponed ... due to strong winds

The launch of a European satellite, which was destined to be the first to measure wind speed on the entire planet, was postponed due to bad weather. On August 20, Arianespace stated that the launch of the Vega rocket with the Aeolus apparatus was postponed for 24 hours due to high winds at altitude.

The probe was named after the keeper of the winds in Greek mythology. Aeolus was supposed to rise from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana. The European Space Agency (ESA), which will take over control of the satellite, says real-time wind measurement will improve weather and climate forecasting.
