Review of the “Parasite Galaxy”

The Hubble telescope is popular because it can clearly transmit images of remote objects in deep space. In this case, it is strange to see this image with blurred spikes, noises and merging colors. You still do not even understand what you are looking at, but still it looks amazing.

Before you is a distant galaxy, displayed as a bright spot in the right corner. Then it is aligned and the light reaches for the star, located closer to the observer. This event is called transit. In the center is the star HD 107146. Its light was deliberately blocked to show a faint galaxy marked with a green circle. The orange circle is a circumstellar disk. The star in parameters resembles the Sun, so researchers are interested in studying it. Particularly interesting is the disk, which can resemble asteroids in our system and the Kuiper belt.

The galaxy was called the “Parasite Galaxy”. Periodically, the star passes in front of her and closes the view. It was first noticed in 2004, and in 2011 measured with a spectroscope. The picture shows the beginning of the transition. The galaxy will completely disappear only in 2020. Its light will spill through the disk around the star and allow you to study the changes, as well as disk characteristics.
