Awesome projects demonstrate the future of Martian colonization

Maxim Rymsha from Ukraine became one of the winners of the “HP Mars Home Planet Rendering Challenge” program for the project “Between Red Mountains”

The recent competition motivated participants to create utopian projects of future human settlements on Mars. Their creations have been incredibly impressive. The “HP Mars Home Planet Rendering Challenge” was attended by more than 87,000 people from around the world, who happily used their creative power and imagination to create the perfect colony on the Red Planet. The call was launched last summer, and the winners were announced on August 14, 2018.

The task was not only to create a beautiful, futuristic and idealistic Martian colony. The project was supposed to show how the settlement would be able to support the survival of 1 million colonists. The Martian surface is harsh, with incredibly thin atmospheric layers, powerful cosmic rays and dust storms that sometimes cover the entire planet. Participants' designs were evaluated by originality, creativity, quality and relevance of Martian physics. A statement from HP added that the design should take into account atmospheric conditions, gravity, soil, surface landscape, radiation, drinking water and air.

The competition was divided into three parts: Concept, 3D-modeling and Implementation. Let's get acquainted with some of the winning projects that may become the future incarnation of a human colony.
