Space Star Snake

Space Star Snake

The Hubble image captures a distant galaxy with areas where intense stellar birth occurs. Areas appear distorted due to gravitational lensing. Large-scale arc-shaped galaxy is located behind the galactic cluster MACSJ1206.2-0847.

To Earth, the glow of a distant galaxy arrives with a high redshift due to the impact of the cluster. This is an amazing location for studying the lensing effects. Sometimes the process forms several images because the light bends in different directions.

Hubble helped get multiple viewpoints on the “Space Snake” with different zoom levels. High-resolution images showed that large boulders with significant redshift are represented by a substructure of small clusters.
