Perhaps this idea arose from the fact that the island was considered a sacred place of worship for Tanit (the moon goddess of the Phoenicians). Her statues found throughout the island of Ibiza. It is believed that the sacrifices were made during the full moon on Es Vedra.

Es Vedra is considered a place of high energy concentration. It is also claimed that it is the third largest magnetic place in the world after the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle. Some ancient stories even indicated that local limestone was transported to Egypt for the construction of pyramids. Modern visitors to the island say that they always feel an unusual surge of energy.
