Lost control over Russian radio telescope

Representatives of Roscosmos stated that they are now trying to solve the problems that have blocked the control of the orbital radio telescope. Spectrum-P satellite continues to transmit signals, but is not amenable to control by scientists since January 11.

The satellite was launched in 2011 and its expected lifespan exceeded 3 years. It is used to study radio sources inside and outside the Milky Way galaxy. Roskosmos official spokesman Alexander Bloshenko said on January 12 that another attempt to regain control of the satellite would take place on Sunday.
