Goldilocks Black Holes - A Big Rarity

Goldilocks Black Holes - A Big Rarity

If you focus on mass, then black holes come in three forms. The smallest - 10 times greater than the solar mass. As an example, we can recall two objects whose fusion led to the first gravitational wave, which was discovered by LIGO (laser interferometer).

The largest are those that are a million times larger than the solar mass. Their presence is proven by NASA images. But the interims in Gold-silk (habitable zones) have not yet been confirmed. Their search is incredibly important, since only one clue or event could completely turn our understanding of the first stars in the Universe.

LIGO was created to detect gravitational waves formed at the moment of impact of medium black holes. The latest evidence suggests that black holes in Goldilocks are not quite standard phenomena. Search 2015-2016 did not bring positive results. But scientists do not give up. The observation was conducted over a space with a size of up to 5 billion years ago, that is, it is a volume of 100 million galaxies like ours. And nowhere was there a case of a collision of two medium black holes.

Most likely, such events occur much less frequently than the fusion of low-mass black holes (3 cases were identified). But if this happened, then we have the tools for detection.
