An unidentified object crashed in Missouri. What the hunter saw in 1865

Even before the Wright brothers built their first plane, strange objects were fixed in the sky for centuries moving at high speeds. Found and the wreckage of strange mechanisms. One of such unusual cases was described by a witness in 1865.

The story happened in mid-September 1865 with hunter James Lumley, who was wandering through the woods near the Great Falls on the Upper Missouri River. Immediately after sunset, the hunter saw in the sky a “bright shining body”, which quickly moved to the east. After 5 seconds, an explosion was heard and Lumley saw a bright flash.

Lumley said the explosion was so strong that the earth shook and the smell of sulfur in the air could be felt. The hunter collected the equipment and went to the side of the fall. On the way, he noticed a path made through fallen trees. Soon he came across a huge metal object crashing into a rock.

The object was larger than an asteroid or comet and had compartments. Lumley said that some characters were cut out on the surface. He also found fragments of glass and some liquid spots. When he brought in the place of other witnesses, no trace of the apparatus remained. However, the scorched trees and the footprint on the rock still pointed to some kind of ruin. What did Lumley see? Some believe that it was a balloon. But Lumley said that he clearly saw the metal surface and the object was much larger. And who then managed to cover their tracks so quickly? In one of the newspapers, they tried to ridicule him, saying that the newcomers flew to the meteorite and would soon conquer humanity.

Is this an early model airplane? But then this event changes the course of history and the merits of the Wright brothers can be transferred to an unknown inventor. Ufologists believe that we face one of the earliest observations of UFOs. Moreover, they will later record such events in Missouri and Texas, when a huge aircraft was observed in the sky for several months. The case remains a mystery.
