What bright lights were seen in Nuremberg in 1561. Stories of witnesses and versions of ufologists

In 1561 a strange event occurred in the sky, which greatly frightened the people of Nuremberg. Some believe that this is an example of an air battle in which representatives of extraterrestrial life participated.

It all started early in the morning. April 4, 1561 among the locals began to increase panic. Eyewitnesses transmitted rumors that the sky was filled with hundreds of bright lights emitting rays in all directions.

People described the event as a war between celestial bodies with different forms. These were spears, cylinders, pillars, crosses and plates that flew in the sky and emitted a bright glow. It was rumored that the “battle” lasted more than an hour, and the UFO emerged from large-scale cylindrical tubes that served as the parent ships. The battle ended with the fall of several plates on the ground and the disappearance of giant ships.

This event was captured in several newspaper articles, books, as well as engravings. In one of the articles they wrote:

A terrible phenomenon occurred between 4 and 5 in the morning. Many men and women saw bright lights. First, two blood-red semicircular arcs appeared on the Sun, like the moon in the last quarter. The color of blood was observed on all sides, and in the center was a round ball, partly black. Between the balls there were several blood-red crosses with red stripes. All these balls began to fight with each other, after which the survivors set off towards the Sun. The fight lasted for an hour. Those that fell to the ground created a lot of smoke. ”

Religious leaders took it seriously. They said that it was a sign for God-fearing people who should heed the Lord, repent of their sins and change their lives. Modern ufologists believe that it was not news from God, but the arrival of a UFO. Moreover, it could be two competing species that could not share the resources of the earth and launched a battle.

Descriptions of events in the newspaper

The researchers are convinced that this was just a natural earthly or cosmic event that people misinterpreted because of a lack of knowledge. Scientists say people are confronted with the “false sun”. A similar phenomenon occurs when sunlight passes through ice crystals in the atmosphere (especially in the northern territories) and is reflected as if through a prism, creating a multitude of halos and shapes (it may appear as crosses). Refraction of light can create a red (“bloody”) color and impose forms on each other, as if in a collision. But ufology do not agree. The fact is that some witnesses noted the presence of noise during the 1561 event. It was whistling, thunder and explosions. In addition, the false sun does not explain the smoke that rose when objects fell to the ground. And Nuremberg in those days was not at all a backward city with ignorant people.

Scientists have also seen a strange phenomenon, which could distinguish “false suns” from something extraterrestrial. As always, scientists and ufologists have not come to general conclusions and continue to argue. While the first claim that it was an atmospheric phenomenon or meteor shower, the latter continue to carefully study the engravings and testimony of witnesses.
