Preparing to launch on the Sun

Solar probe Parker NASA conducted the last cleaning procedures in a special room to go to the launch pad, where it is integrated into the launch vehicle complex Delta-4. This is a historical mission that should revolutionize our understanding of the sun. The probe will go on a journey through the solar atmosphere, closer to the surface than any other spacecraft could. The device is destined to face terrible heat and radiation conditions. However, the price will be the closest observations of the star system.

On July 16, 2018, the probe was encapsulated inside a half of its 62.7-foot spinner in preparation for the transition from Astrotech Space Operations (Titusville, Florida) to complex 37 on Cape Canaveral Air Force. There, it is integrated into a launch vehicle before launch, scheduled for August 11, 2018.
