American frosts: what the polar vortex has done

In the US, winter is gaining unusual momentum. Now in the country there is a strong frost caused by the polar whirlwind, which is monitored by meteorological satellites from space. The National Meteorological Service calls the coming cold "life-threatening."

The decrease in temperature is caused by Arctic air masses drifting further south than usual. Because of this, strong winds that move cold masses to states reach -40 ° C. This is enough to lead to frostbite in half an hour.

NASA satellite Terra on January 27 photographed Michigan and the Great Lakes when the temperature dropped sharply

Hardest hit the southern part, where the masses were in the Upper Midwest, and then spread to most of the eastern 2/3 of the country. At the end of the week, especially cold temperatures, severe frosts and life-threatening winds are expected.

Americans are advised once again not to go out, warm themselves and follow local weather sites.
