Colors in Saturn's rings

The rings of Saturn show their sophisticated color in a photograph taken by the Cassini spacecraft on August 22, 2009. The particles that make up the rings, in size, can reach from a grain of sand to the mountains. Made of water ice. The exact nature of the material responsible for providing color on the rings is still under discussion by the scientific community.

The pictures were taken using red, green and blue spectral filters. They are specially connected to create a color look. The survey was conducted at a distance of 2.05 million km from the center of the rings. Cassini completed the mission on September 15, 2017.
