Due to the sterilizing effect of exploding stars, some astrobiologists believe that you need to look for alien life as far as possible from the galactic center. However, in a new study, they tried to prove that the center of the Milky Way should be the main goal. Why?

We are aware of the existence of a habitable zone in star systems. This is a certain distance between the planet and the star, where the world has a chance for the presence of water in liquid form on the surface. Thus, the idea of a galactic habitable zone appeared.
This is a definite territory, which is located at a sufficient distance from a dangerous supermassive black hole and the action of supernovae, but is close enough to obtain the necessary volume of metal elements that feed biological processes.

In a new article, a couple of astrobiologists argue that about 2 billion years ago, life had a huge chance of rebirth in the inner galactic territory. Therefore, the SETI project to search for extraterrestrial life is recommended to direct all of its instruments towards our galactic center. Especially should be interested in areas that are less susceptible to the influence of cosmic rays or are above / below the galactic median plane.
Of course, this is still a theory, which lacks evidence. But it is still better to at least know about where the greatest probability of finding life is than to look for it in the dark at random.
