Space cooperation between the USA and Russia remains in force

Russian and US officials welcomed the joint implementation of space delivery on November 19 and said that the cooperation will remain in force, despite the political tensions between the countries.

Director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, and the head of NASA's research and operations department, William Gerstenmayer, announced that they were planning to work together to create a lunar orbital outpost. Now Russia is developing a heavy launch vehicle and a new spacecraft, complementing US projects for future missions on the Moon.

Gerstenmayer says that in terms of space exploration, both countries are effective partners. This is reported by the fact that US sanctions have not spread to the space industry.

In the photo of November 16, 2018, the Russian cargo ship Progress MS-10 takes off from the launch area of the Baikonur launch site (Kazakhstan). Rocket Union delivered the ship to the ISS Rogozin also attempted to touch on his earlier comments regarding the hole at the station, which arose in August. He said that the hole could be drilled in orbit or during assembly, but did not suspect any of the astronauts. His direct speech: “We never blamed the Americans, which cannot be said about the media, whose words we tried to refute each time.”

A small hole led to a loss of pressure, but there was no threat to the crew members. The hole was patched. The issue is still under investigation, but so far Roscosmos and NASA have agreed not to comment on the situation. Agency representatives insist that human cooperation in space requires absolute trust and honesty.

Recall that Rogozin hit the list of US sanctions. He hopes that he will receive an invitation from NASA to see the new US spacecraft in February. This visit should be a continuation of the regular meetings of representatives of NASA and Roscosmos.
