In 2016, the Very Large Array (VLA) received the first reports of an unusual thread near the galactic center. It stretches 2.3 light years, is curved and points to a supermassive black hole Sagittarius A *.

Recently, researchers have used innovative technology to extract the highest quality image. It allows you to study the details of the thread, but its nature is still unclear. The answer is three explanations.

Firstly, everything is connected with the separation of high-speed particles from a supermassive black hole. The latter rotates, maintaining contact with the gas, and creates a rotating vertical tower of the magnetic field, which draws into the event horizon. Inside it, the particles will accelerate and create radio beams.

Secondly, a thread can be a cosmic thread - a theoretically unidentified object. This is a long and elongated design that transmits massive electrical currents. The researchers predicted that such formations should migrate to galactic centers. If the thread comes too close to the hole, then part of it will tighten into the event horizon. Thirdly, the location and direction of the filament, which coincides with the black hole, is simply a coincidence in the superpositions, and there is no real connection between them. But it is not necessary to rely on chance.
