Olaf - nuts snowman in space

This is one giant leap for snowmen! Olaf is a crazy snowman from the popular Disney movie "Frozen", currently on board the International Space Station and we have photos to prove it.

Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov took a small toy Olaf into space at the request of his 8-year-old daughter. Scapler and two crew members started aboard the Soyuz capsule on November 24 and arrived at the orbital outpost six hours later. On Tuesday (December 9), Shkaplerov posted on Twitter a photograph of Olaf quietly floating in the station’s observation deck. Each Union flight includes a “Zero-G” indicator, which is often a toy. This indicator hangs in a prominent place so that crew members can watch it during launch. (Note that Olaf is actually tied. This suggests that Shkaplerov does not want the toy to fly away). When an object becomes weightless and begins to swim, this confirms that the crew is in orbit.

Olaf joins the long line of toys in space that have been in orbit for many years. These fearless toys include: Hello Kitty, Legos, Smokey Bear and Angry Bird.
