Cosmic confusion

This dark tangled network is an SNR 0454-67.2 object. Its formation process is notable for its particular cruelty, because we see the remnants of a supernova that appeared after the catastrophic explosion of a star. The event caused the object to throw the constituent material into the surrounding space. This created a chaotic formation that is visible in the photo of the Hubble Space Telescope with red filaments in dark stormy clouds.

SNR 0454-67.2 is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) - a dwarf spiral galaxy close to the Milky Way. The rest belongs to the explosion of a supernova Ia-type. This category of supernovae is created after the death of a white dwarf, growing through the receipt of material from the stellar neighbor. When a critical mass occurs, the star explodes. Since the creation features a clear mechanism (a set of critical mass), explosions always have a certain luminosity. Due to this, they are used as markers (standard candles) for measuring distances in the Universe.
