Orion. Entrance to the atmosphere of the Earth: Video

In this new fascinating video, published by NASA, there is a chronicle of the Orion spacecraft launching - from fiery entry into the atmosphere to a sudden splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

On December 5, Orion was sent into space by the latest generation of the US launch vehicle Delta 4 Heavy. The test flight was designed to simulate the entrance to the Earth’s atmosphere at speeds close to the speed of a spacecraft entering, which would return to Earth from deep space.

The Orion unmanned spacecraft was sent in an elliptical orbit around the Earth, traveling at a maximum distance of 3604 miles from Earth, which is much more than the International Space Station. Ultimately, the manned version of Orion will be assigned the task of transporting astronauts to destinations outside the orbit of the Earth.
