The mysterious cloud hovers in outer space

The little-known IRAS 05437 + 2502 nebula stands out from the Hubble Space Telescope, surrounded by bright stars and dark dust clouds. It lives on the territory of the Taurus constellation, not far from the galactic plane of the Milky Way. This object still needs to be studied in detail, so the exact characterization remains a mystery.

Initially, it seems that this is a small and isolated area of stellar birth, where UV rays from bright young stars cut out similar forms in gas. However, you can see a bright, boomerang-like feature that tells a more interesting story. The contact between a high-speed young star and a cloud of gas and dust was able to create this sharp and bright stream. Then the star would be thrown out of a young cluster and began to travel at a speed of 200,000 km / h through the nebula. The faint cloud was first noticed in 1983 using the IRAS satellite, the first space telescope that studies the sky in IR light. Management was conducted from the USA, the Netherlands and the UK. We managed to find a lot of new objects that are invisible from Earth. For the extraction of the frame used camera ACS Hubble in the “snapshot”.
