The International Space Station plays the role of an orbital research platform for all mankind. It is used for various experiments and research projects, while it revolves around the planet along the orbital path.

On June 20, 2018, the space station deployed a satellite cleaner (NanoRacks-Remove Debris) into space outside the Japanese laboratory Kibo module. This technology demonstration was developed to explore the use of a 3D camera in determining the location and speed of orbital debris.

The device has successfully deployed a network to capture a nano-satellite simulating garbage. This is an important mission, as collisions in space can have serious consequences for space stations and satellites. However, studies show that clearing space from large fragments significantly reduces the risk of collisions.
