A message has come from the Kremlin that the authorities are studying the recent failures in the space sector. The most embarrassing incident is a lost satellite launched from a new site in Russia. It turned out that the problem was a programming error.
Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister, spoke on December 27 about the reason for the loss of Meteor M (a satellite that serves meteorological objectives). It was launched from the new site of the Vostochny cosmodrome, but used the program for the Baikonur site.
The loss of a satellite and corruption scandals around the Vostochny construction forced Rogozin to study the space exploration sector more closely.
